Once a distillery, then a fire station, the Musée du Platin opened its doors to visitors in 1986 with the aim of introducing visitors to the maritime heritage and traditions of the Ré region, thanks to a unique collection of period costumes, photographs and furniture.
On four floors, your eyes will always be drawn to a historical treasure reflecting the identity of the Ile de Ré.
A fascinating place for visitors with a thirst for knowledge, it’s also a wonderful place of discovery for families and children with a thirst for curiosity.
To get off to a good start on your visit to the Musée du Platin, it’s best to get into the swing of things as soon as you arrive on the Ile de Ré.
After crossing the bridge, park at Sablanceaux and head for the pier where the ferry arrived and departed before 1988. Continue on to the Abbaye des Châteliers, before La Flotte, to soak up its majesty.
Finally, visit the Musée du Platin to understand the importance of these two monuments and learn even more about the island of yesteryear.
