Your jog on the Ile de Ré!

Here are three route ideas for your running outings. Get your running shoes on!

The 5 landscapes trail in Sainte-Marie-de-Ré 8km approx. 1h15

Departing from the Port Notre-Dame cove, this trail takes you through the forest, along the coastline, through the village and past an ancient marsh.
All along the way, nature opens up to you. Perhaps you’ll come across a hoopoe or hear the gentle melodies of a chaffinch! But above all, between two strides, take the time to appreciate the smell of the forest.

When flora and fauna mingle with your jog, it’s the perfect combination for a change of scenery!

From the Maison du Fier to the Banc du Bûcheron 4km about 30 minutes

Head to the north of the island, to the village of Les Portes-en-Ré!
Start your walk at the Maison du Fier, in the heart of the Lilleau des Niges nature reserve.
You’ll appreciate the beauty of the landscape, with its endless marshes and perfect tranquillity.
Lose yourself in the calm of nature all the way to the ocean.
A jog in the north of the island means you’ll be able to take in the sights and finish your effort on a vast stretch of beach with a view of the splendid Banc des Bucherons. Peace of mind guaranteed!

Training at Saint-Martin-de-Ré 3.5km about 25 minutes

Start your training in the Parc de la Barbette in the heart of the village and head for the Plage de la Cible. Walk along the fortifications and citadel, admiring the blue horizon.
Leave the fortified village and return to the seafront to continue your stride, with an iodized wind to support your efforts.
The path can take you all the way to the next village, leaving you with nothing but the ocean as your only landscape!

So, how about a jog around the island?

Of course, there are many other routes on the Ile de Ré, such as from the Ile de Ré bridge to Rivedoux-Plage, or from Bois-Plage-en-Ré to Saint-Martin de Ré.

It’s up to you to find the right sneakers for your feet, before you set off in your best strides!
