Our actions for sustainable development

The Ile de Ré is a popular destination, not only for the beauty of its landscapes and architecture, but also for its cleanliness and air quality. The tourism ecosystem is committed to preserving these assets while protecting the environment.
To this end, as part of the island’s tourism strategy, the region’s tourism stakeholders are striving to :

  • Give priority to soft transport
  • Preserve the foreshore, dunes and biodiversity
  • Promote local products
  • Prepare for waste sorting and recycling
  • Promote local activities and know-how

Destination île de Ré is a major player in this strategy, through its daily eco-gestures and strong commitments:

  • Zero flyers in our 10 reception desks, to provide you with up-to-date, more personalized information and reduce our impact on the environment.
  • No paper posters, but screens displaying events, tickets, upcoming boat departures, weather forecasts, etc.
  • Digital welcome thanks to the Roadbook: creation of a personalized digital travel diary.
  • Store area with a range of local products to indulge in.
  • All our information sent by e-mail, encouraging you to download documents from our website
  • Eco-gesture charter: all Destination île de Ré staff are trained in simple, everyday eco-gestures.
  • Dematerialization of meeting minutes, schedules, liaison notebooks and digitization of media
  • Encourage and practice car-pooling
  • Re-use of draft paper, use of recycled paper
  • Waste sorting, recycling and recovery of our various waste streams
  • Member of the Biotop network to measure and recycle our waste
  • Provision of water bottles with charcoal sticks for filtration to each employee
  • Environmental assessment of the Tourist Office’s activities to be carried out in 2022-2023, with a 5-year action plan.
