On 9 May 1945, the day after the German surrender and almost a year after the Normandy landings, the island of Ré was officially liberated.

In Ars-en-Ré, on Sunday 25 May 2025, meet at the church square.

At 11 a.m., local children will take part in a parade dressed in period costume.

At 11.30am, the commemorative ceremony will take place, with songs, speeches and an aperitif offered by the town hall at 12pm.

There will then be a picnic in the countryside - everyone is welcome...
