Nestling in the Trousse Chemise woods, the Maison-Phare was built to ensure safe navigation on the Fier d'Ars thanks to a lantern visible for up to 20km. It was backed up by a downstream light located 230m away near the access road to the beach.
Now restored by the Association pour la Protection du Petit Patrimoine des Portes-en-Ré (A4P), it houses semi-permanent exhibitions on climate, the ocean and coastal conservation.
